Five days after Hurricane Gustav made landfall the estimated damages are up to 10 billion dollars. This is a lot lower than originally expected because as the hurricane moved over land it fortunately went from a category 4 to a category 1 storm. Many people were worried that this storm was going to be as bad as Hurricane Katrina which did 41 billion dollars in damages. Unfortunately, this is only good news comparatively as insurance rates for coastal cities will continue to rise due to Hurricane season just starting.

People from effected areas will have to be evacuated as storms get stronger and will continue to have to determine what kind of damage has effected their homes. When Katrina was over and residents returned to their homes the debate became whether wind, flood or rain damage was to be paid by the insurance companies. Home-owner’s insurance covers the wind and rain damage, while the flood damage is paid by flood-insurance policies. To learn more on the rising insurance rates and what they mean to you visit USA Today’s site. So, to all the residents of coastal cities this hurricane season: Good Luck! You are going to need it.

In this day and age, starting your own business means purchasing and maintaining your own website. A lot of people don’t know where to start when searching for website. The web is bulging with content and information and sometimes you need someone to point you in the right direction. That is where I come in. I am here to guide you in your journey down the information super-highway.

You see the way to go when you first get started is to find a good web host. A web host is usually a web company that for a fee will buy you a .com and “fix it up” for you, and moderate it for you. There are thousands of web sites that offer this service so it is important to find the right one.

I am fond of pages that act as search engines because they pool the type of info you need, therefore, it takes you a shorter amount of time to find what you are looking for. This site not only does that but they also give you web host ratings, web hosting awards, web hosting reviews, and a long list of webmaster resources, for those of you that know a little bit more about the web. If you want to learn more they also have a web hosting articles section. They even provide a couple of “green” web hosts for people that care about the environment. All things considered, if I were starting my own business webhostinggeeks.com would be the first place I went.

Well, it’s not a hurricane named Katrina, it’s a hurricane named Gustav, and it’s happening right now. Three years to the day that Katrina ravaged the Gulf coastline. In fact, right now, New Orleans is feeling the first drops of rain.

There are other differences besides just the name of the storm though, people are actually leaving. Residents of New Orleans turned out in the thousand today at bus stations to leave their beloved city. Most of the people interviewed said that after Katrina they were not going to take any chances. For more in depth coverage go to The Weather Channels Homepage.

We are all familiar with what most people refer to as just “sugar,” “white” sugar, or “pure” sugar. There is also “sugar in the raw,” which is darker in color and come in larger grains. To get the white grains of sugar the raw product goes through a rigorous refining process. When done with this process it becomes ICUMSA 45 or Brazilian Sugar.

Brazilian Sugar is the final product of the refinement process and can be found all over the world. If you are interested in learning more about ICUMSA 45 and the other forms of sugar and how they are made visit www.icumsa45.com. This site is informative and easy to use. Just mouse over the type of sugar you want to learn about and click.

Here are some of the advantages of a 2 stroke engine. They do not have valves, simplifying their construction. They have the potential for about twice the power in the same size because they fire once every revolution ( 4 stroke engines fire once every other revolution). This gives 2 stroke engines a significant power boost.

Now here are some of the disadvantages. 2 stroke engines don’t last as long as a 4 stroke engine, this is due to the fact of not having a lubrication system. This means that the internal parts of a 2 stroke engine wear out quicker. 2 stroke engines require a mix of gas and oil to lubricate the crankshaft, connecting rod, and cylinder walls. With each new mix of air and fuel injected into the combustion chamber, a small part of it leaks out through the exhaust port, which means that 2 stroke engines are less fuel efficient. This yields less miles per gallon, and creates more pollution than 4 stroke engines. Also, 2 stroke engines burn oil, so the exhaust stinks.

You have 2 options when buying a small engine for custom applications, You have 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines. Now also take into consideration I’m comparing small 2 and 4 stroke engines, Not a car 4 stroke or a large Caterpillar, or Detroit 2 stroke. I’ll get into those later.

Here’s a few thing about 2 stroke engines. One you have to mix 2 cycle oil with gas to achieve the right ratio for the lubrication of the piston. Two a 2 stroke engines (in theory) can produce twice as much power as the same size 4 stroke at the same revs, but uses more fuel.

Here’s a few things about 4 stroke engines. One they run a lot cooler and therefore use a lot less fuel. Two you don’t have to mix oil with gas for piston lubrication which makes its easier on the owner to fuel their engine.

Engine, mounts, chain, gas tank, twist throttle, sprocket its all there. It takes about four to six hours to put together with basic mechanic knowledge.

Once your done all you have to do is ride the bike like you normally would and let the clutch go once your goin about 5 miles per hour and the engine will spring to life. With an average of about 30 miles per hour on flat ground it can get you from point a to point b in no time.

Heres a few more things that you can do to save gas. I know that alot of people have warranties on there cars and are not allowed to put any other parts than the manufacturer specifies. Some of these things can void your warranty, so check your paper work first. But anyways you can upgrade your air filter to a K&N or a high flow cone filter.

Which allows more air to flow threw, More air means that your gas burns more efficiently. Also if you buy a new intake hose thats straight hose instead of a rippled hose it will also allow for more air to flow easier. I’ve done this myself for on few of my cars. All I did was went to orielys auto parts and they got me everything i needed. Feel free to ask any questions.

This is the car that is probably the coolest thing to hit the road since cars were invented, it is named Tesla and runs entirely off electricity or batteries. The car is super fast going from 0 to 60 in less than 4 seconds and looks super cool. The price tag is a little steep for the average Joe like myself but i am looking forward to seeing this technology put in all automobiles here in America because we need to get off our dependence on foreign oil here otherwise our economy may collapse but definitely a recession if nothing is done to get America off oil.

And if what ever the next fuel source is needs to be environmentally friendly, people talk about how we should grow our next fuel source and some suggest making something from our food supplies as a fuel source and to all of them I say no, we need to have our cars run of electricity and have solar panels recharging the batteries for our cars. IF people in the north east want to heat there homes with bio fuels i say for it but our cars need to run off batteries that can be recharged from solar panels or other solar means.

Technology, innovation, saving money, and doing it in style. That’s what I’m posting about!
